Spring Is Here: Tips for High Grades (and Less Stress)

Less stress pic

Spring is the time for apple blossom and bluebells. If you happen to be a follower of reality TV shows, then you're excited about the upcoming episodes. (You might have second thoughts about the recent results on "American Idol", but you won't miss the continuation of the Asian swing in the next few episodes of "The Amazing Race".) You're also hooked to the final season of "Game of Thrones". All of these should help you handle the exam stress during these last few months of the term.

Older students would tell you that it's not the amount of time, but rather the effort you put into the coursework. However, proofreading can take hours, which can affect your plans. There are examinations, which you must prepare for it. Are you willing to lose some sleep over it? Not a few students don't sleep at all, and they seem unaffected at all. The young body may be able to cope with the stress and lack of rest, but your body would give in if you do it for days. There's a better way of handling it.

If you've been sitting in front of the computer screen for too long, then the first thing to do is stand up and walk away from the computer. This would enable neuron connections help you think fast and better. You also need to massage your head gently instead of an emotional burst on social media. You might be tempted to lie down, if not take a cat nap. Going out may be a better option, as the sunshine should help you keep away from the blues. Don't think about the light at the end of the tunnel unless you're on your final year. Thesis writing should make your life more complicated (and more exciting), prompting you to smile for an instance. It's a good sign, as it means that you're not taking your situation seriously. What's next?

Take It Steady: What Would Your Professors Tell You

Your mental well-being must be your main priority. Expect a high level of stress during the spring season, which seems ironic. You must be delighted at the verdant surrounding, yet the coursework would prompt you to spend long hours inside your room. It can affect you sooner than you suspect. Don't lose sleep. (If you can sleep more, then don't worry about tomorrow or the day after next.) Make exercise a part of your daily routine, and your day might be ruined if you don't have a good breakfast. Spring may be the best time for the occasional night outs. You might be surprised at it, but you have nothing to lose if you tap into your social (or adventurous) side. Connection should make you feel good. (Your coursemates would think the same way.)

What you know won't secure a high grade. A photographic memory should help you memorize all the information in the syllabus. It doesn't guarantee a high grade, though. It's important to know how to use information, and this applies to arts and math and science students as well. If you happen to be a Literature student, then don't ever think of the word count. You should be persuasive, if not convincing, enough. New arguments may (or may not) interest your professor. If you have analyzed the (selected) information well, then the high grade would follow. It won't be the case with Match and Science students, as you only need to look at the scenario from a different angle. Your vantage point could impress your professor (or not).

Revision shouldn't cost you a good night's sleep. This crucial part of the paper writing process isn't procrastination that would end the following morning. If you have a morning lecture, then it can cost you more than you think. You must do it right away, as you have other deadlines to beat. The same thing applies to essay examinations, which can be harder than you think. Look at your past papers, and learn from your mistakes. If you're too proud to own it, then remind yourself that an open mind would help to move forward. This should improve your writing style until you're confident about penning a lyrical, if not amusing, tale. (Literary criticism doesn't have to be strictly academic in nature.)

Practice (and more practice)

If you're unable to follow the above instructions, then practice it first. You must set a (limited) time, where you must not extend it. Eight hours of half concentrating isn't as good as four hours of intense studying. There would be distractions, but you know what to do. As far as scheduling is concerned, it should be better to start working on your assignment in the afternoon. Make sure that you finish at 8 PM, so you have an hour for unwinding down. It's important to do it, as not doing may affect your sleep. You should do the paperwork if you don't have any questions.
